MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saffron alliance decided on Sunday night to stay away from the Raj Thackeray-led
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Relations between the two parties were strained when a powerful section within the BJP led by Gopinath Munde had suggested that the SS-BJP should induct the MNS into the National Democratic Alliance to ensure the defeat of the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party alliance in the state assembly elections.
The Shiv Sena has strongly opposed the BJP's move.
